AJH Novatech 21 Oct 2008
Today (Tue 21/10/08) I tried to order a flash memory stick from Novatech using their website. I thought it would be a doddle. I know I'm not the bees knees in surfing the web, but it looked so easy. It looked .....!
I got as far as putting in my name, address and email address. I ignored the box that asked me for my daytime mobile phone number because I don't have one. This seems to be something that Novatech consider to be a heinous crime, as It would not proceed without a number. I did consider making up a bogus number but I don't like telling lies despite the fact that lying by BT's automated voices seems to be common. (See AJI). So I decided to try and ring the Novatech office and place the order, despite the delivery cost being almost the same as the cost of the item I wanted. I am semi-disabled and find travelling, even for a couple of miles, a real chore.
But it seems that Novatech have a belt and braces policy for rejecting prospective customers. I got the number from the SAY NO TO 0870 site as I never use those scam numbers that Novatech subscribes to, and almost all firms have an honest number if you look a bit harder. (Incidentally, Ofcom are currently looking at this scam, but I'll wager that as soon as they ban the scam, the devils will find a new one).
So, dear reader, give Novatech a miss unless you are really stuck for a supplies. They really don't want your business. Although there is an alternative explanation; perhaps there is something I don't know about their business that wishes to enforce the Credit Crunch.
