AII Some less common abbreviations 6 April 2008
I do not intend to repeat what can be found in most good dictionaries; that is abbreviations like "i.e." and "RSVP". But I can give some data on names of companies that most people have no idea what they mean. Further, if any reader has some that I have not listed, I would be pleased to hear from them Give me a call on CDCNottm@AOL.com

Plessey
I worked for them for a number of years before I found out what their squiggly
logo meant. It
was
an oscillogram of the name 'Plessey' written in longhand. Whether it was ever
electronically
reproduced, or just a clever
thought, I do not know. There was enough
electronic expertise at the
factory that I worked at in at Addlestone in Surrey, that I am sure
it must have
been, if only for the
Open Day.
