ACL Evo-stick Wood glue
This is an excellent wood glue. I recently bought a one litre bottle and I was pleasantly surprised at its modest cost. The advert on the bottle is certainly true in that it is stronger than the wood itself. If you put the faces of two pieces of deal together and allow the glue to cure, and then use brute force to lever them apart, you will tear the face off one piece of wood. What it is like for hardwood, I don't know because I have not tried it. Something to try one day!
The glue is a water-based resin that gives a small hold within a couple of hours and is fully cured in 24 hours in moderate temperatures. In the bottle it is a white cream of the consistency of cream you put into your coffee. When cured, the glue is a translucent and almost clear. It is hard too.
Now, I imagine Evode would not recommend that the glue is used for other than wood, but I have tried it as an adhesive on other things and it seems to stick better than the proverbial does to a blanket. One of its great features is that once cured it is waterproof. You are recommended not to use it where the wood is constantly damp. This seems reasonable to me as it is probably the wood that would fail rather than the glue.
If the surface you want to adhere to can be wetted by the uncured glue, I am sure it will be a wonderful way of securing almost anything together is a clean bright manner. But if, say, it is metal to metal, it may take a very long time to cure as it seems to cure when the water has evaporated from the cream.
When you buy a bottle, it has a screw cap that can have the thin spout cut to allow a small flow of the glue on to the job in question. After use stick a nail or screw into the hole to seal it from the air. You may find the nail is difficult to remove, so use a washer or something to let you have a good grip as the glue around the nail will harden and make it difficult to remove.
