ACA                                 Thinking of going on a cruise? A few tips!

I have cruised with P&O several times, and with Fred Olsen and Carnival Cruises.  One of the P&O cruises was the American part of the company with the Pacific Princess.  I like talking to Americans but am not all that keen on their food.  Ask for a fried egg at breakfast and expect a grilling on how you want it done.  And as for a poached egg, that's a laugh in itself.

But what I like about P&O is that they are very professional.  Almost every day at sea is some sort of crew training for an emergency.  I've been on six P&O cruises and never met an emergency but it's nice to know that P&O have seriously thought about it.  But I suppose 300 years in the business, they should have learned something.

Fred Olsen is not bad, but P&O has the edge.  But my only trip with Carnival Cruises has led me to put them at the bottom of my list.  Carnival Cruises are associated with Royal Caribbean, and if the two managements are similar, give them a miss too.  Have a look at page ABL
